Reminder—Weekend closure of Hwy 62 in Minneapolis/Richfield begins July 26

Roseville, Minn – Motorists traveling in Minneapolis/Richfield will encounter a weekend detour on both directions of Hwy 62 as crews close the roadway to demolish the Penn Avenue Bridge deck. 

At 10 p.m. Friday, July 26, eastbound and westbound Hwy 62 between Hwy 100 and I-35W will close. Eastbound Hwy 62 to France Avenue will remain open for Fairview Southdale Hospital traffic.

During the closure, westbound Hwy 62 traffic will be detoured to I- 494 and to Hwy 100. Eastbound Hwy 62 traffic will be detoured to I-494 and to I-35W.

The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. Monday, July 29.

The $1.6 million bridge project includes removing and replacing the bridge deck, panels and approaches, replacing the bridge rails and upgrading pedestrian crossings at ramp intersections to meet modern accessibility standards.
