Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 169 in Brooklyn Park will close July 27

Roadway will close early Saturday morning and re-open early Sunday

ROSEVILLE, Minn– Motorists traveling in Brooklyn Park this weekend will encounter a detour on southbound Hwy 169 between County Road 81 and Hwy 610 as crews close the Hwy.

Beginning at 12 a.m. Saturday, July 27 crews will close the Hwy to set the beams for the new interchange at Hwy 169 and County Road 30. The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. Sunday, July 28.  Motorists should use Hwy 610 and Hwy 252 to bypass the closure.

The project, which began in early spring, includes reconstructing County Road 30 (93rd Ave N) to pass over Hwy 169, eliminating the existing traffic signal there, constructing loop ramps in the northeast and northwest quadrants for access to and from Hwy 169 to the south and providing bicycle and pedestrian trails along both sides of County Road 30.

The project will improve safety and will help alleviate congestion on Hwy 169 while making Hwy 169 a freeway between Shakopee and Champlin.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-October.
