Orange barrels on a highway

Northbound Hwy 169 remains closed until mid-afternoon July 22

Roadway will re-open before the evening rush hour

ROSEVILLE, Minn – Motorists traveling northbound on Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and I-694/94 will encounter a delay and a detour until 2:30 p.m. July 22 – weather permitting.

Previously scheduled to re-open by 5 a.m. July 22, the weekend rain delayed the resurfacing project and crews were unable to safely re-open the roadway before the Monday morning rush hours.

Motorists can still bypass the closure by using Interstates 694/I-94, I-394, and I-494 and Hwy100 as alternative routes.

Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the Hwy have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction. The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
