Hwy 47 resurfacing project includes road closures starting July 23
Overnight construction noise is expected
Roseville, Minn. – Motorists traveling in Northeast Minneapolis will encounter a road closure on University Avenue and on Broadway Street as crews make drainage repairs and improvements on each roadway.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 both directions of Broadway Street between Central Avenue and University Avenue will close. The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 24.
In addition, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25 both directions of Hwy 47 between Hennepin Avenue and Broadway Street will close so crews can make drainage repairs at the University Avenue and 4th Street NE intersection. The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. Friday, July 26.
Overnight crews working at the University Avenue/4th Street NE intersection will follow noise ordinances and limit noise as much as possible. However, residents in the immediate area will hear some noises associated with construction activity. The overnight construction is necessary to accomplish the work within the project’s schedule.
The Hwy 47 resurface project includes preserving the road pavement, making necessary drainage repairs, repairing curbs and gutters, and repairing pedestrian ramps. The project will provide a smoother road surface, reduced short-term maintenance costs and improved pedestrian access along the 2.17 miles of busy roadway.
