Penn Avenue Bridge reconstruction begins July 24

The bridge, spanning Hwy 62, will be closed until October 

Roseville, Minn – Beginning Wednesday, July 24 motorists traveling on Penn Avenue in Minneapolis/Richfield will encounter a three month detour and bridge closure as crews redeck the Penn Avenue bridge spanning Hwy 62. 

In addition, the Penn Avenue ramps to westbound Hwy 62 also will close. During construction traffic will be detoured to Xerxes Avenue, 66th Street and 50th Street. The bridge and ramps will re-open in late October.

The $1.6 million project includes removing and replacing the bridge deck, panels and approaches, replacing the bridge rails and upgrading pedestrian crossings at ramp intersections to meet modern accessibility standards.
