Orange barrels on a highway

Lane closure on Hwy 47 in Minneapolis begins July 15

Eight-week project includes lane restrictions and road/intersection closures

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will encounter delays and parking restrictions on Highway 47 between Highway 65/Central Avenue and 27th Avenue NE in Minneapolis as crews close lanes to resurface the roadway.

On Monday, July 15, northbound Hwy 47 between Hwy 65/Central Avenue and 1st Avenue NE will be reduced to a single lane. Crews will begin working on the roadway at Central Ave and continue north on Hwy 47. The roadway will remain one lane while crews repair the pavement.

The project will require some temporary, off-peak, weekday lane restrictions and full closures of Hwy 47. Specific information about lane restrictions and roadway closures will be announced when they are determined. Drivers  should plan to slow down and drive with caution through the work zone.

The project includes preserving the road pavement, making necessary drainage repairs, repairing curbs and gutters, and repairing pedestrian ramps. The project will provide a smoother road surface, reduced short-term maintenance costs and improved pedestrian access along the 2.17 miles of busy roadway.

Weather permitting the project will be complete at the end of August.
