Stillwater Lift Bridge schedule changes on Independence Day

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Boaters and other water traffic on the St. Croix River may experience delays after 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4 as the Stillwater Lift Bridge remains in the down position at 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the US Coast Guard and the City of Stillwater, has elected to keep the lift span down to accommodate an anticipated increase in vehicular traffic after the Independence Day celebrations.

The 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. lifts will still take place.

Rehabilitation of the Stillwater Lift Bridge, spanning the St. Croix River between Stillwater, Minn. and Houlton, Wis., took place late in 2012. Crews repaired steel connections, replaced and repaired mechanical and electrical components, repaired concrete surfaces, repaired floor beams, painted portions of the bridge at repair locations and replaced guardrail, curb and gutter.
