An overnight closure of I-35W is scheduled on July 2

Crews will close the roadway to work on the Portland Avenue Bridge

ROSEVILLE, Minn – Motorists in Minneapolis will encounter an overnight detour on both directions of Interstate 35W as crews close the roadway to pour the deck on the Portland Avenue Bridge.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, northbound and southbound I-35W between Hwy 65 and Park Avenue and the 5th Avenue ramp (also known as the Franklin Avenue Ramp) will close. All lanes and ramps will re-open by 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 3.

During the closure, southbound I-35W traffic will be detoured to westbound I-694 and to eastbound I- 94. Northbound I-35W traffic will be detoured to westbound I-94 and to eastbound I-694.

Motorists are reminded that  I-694 between Arden Hills/New Brighton and Hwy 100 in Brooklyn Center is under major construction and traffic delays are expected. Drivers should plan for extended commute times or look for alternative routes.
