Weekend lane closure on Hwy 169 starts June 28
Southbound Hwy 169 will close between Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Motorists will encounter a lane closure and a detour on southbound Hwy 169 between Interstate 694 and Hwy 55 as crews resurface the roadway.
At 9 p.m. Friday, June 28, southbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 in Golden Valley/Plymouth and 77th Avenue in Brooklyn Park/Maple Grove will close. All southbound lanes will re-open by 5 a.m., Monday, July 1.
During the closure, motorists should use Interstates 94, 394, and 494 and Hwy 100 as alternative routes.
Motorists will encounter additional weekend road closures on the same stretch of roadway in the coming weeks-weather permitting. All lanes and ramps will be open over the July 4th Holiday weekend.
Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the Hwy have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction. The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
