Stillwater Lift Bridge re-opens
The bridge lift schedule was suspended due to a frayed cable
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Stillwater Lift Bridge will open to motorists and water traffic sooner than expected.
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, the lift bridge will resume its normal lift schedule.
The bridge was closed to water traffic at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, June 16 when crews detected a frayed cable on the lift system. As a safety precaution, the normal lift schedule was suspended and the lift span was in the down position until repairs were completed.
Rehabilitation of the Stillwater Lift Bridge, spanning the St. Croix River between Stillwater, Mn. and Houlton, Wis., took place late in 2012. Crews repaired steel connections, replaced and repaired mechanical and electrical components, repaired concrete surfaces, repaired floor beams, painted portions of the bridge at repair locations and replaced guardrails, curbs and gutters.
