Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 36 lane restrictions in Lake Elmo begin June 22

Expect short-term lane closures over the weekend

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter delays when both directions of Hwy 36 are reduced to a single lane between I-694 and Demontreville Trail at 4 a.m. Saturday, June 22.

The lane closures are necessary as crews install pipe under Hwy 36 as part of the Hwy 36/Hilton Trail reconstruction project.

Crews will work on one side of the roadway at a time. All eastbound and westbound traffic will utilize one side of the road in a single lane in each direction while crews work on the opposite side.

Additionally, Hwy 36 motorists will not be able to make left turns in or out of Hilton Trial and Viking Drive during this closure.

All lanes will re-open by 12:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, weather permitting.

When completed in fall 2013, the $13.8 million reconstruction project will improve safety and traffic flow on Hwy 36, Hilton Trail, Highlands Trail and Demontreville Trail while reducing the amount of through traffic cutting through residential areas.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slowdown in workzones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
