Gateway State Trail in east Twin Cities metro area scheduled to close June 17
Trail will close for nine days
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Pedestrians and bicyclists will want to seek an alternate route as both directions of the Gateway State Trail tunnel beneath Hwy 36 in Pine Springs close at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 17.
The trail closure is necessary as crews complete utility work under the tunnel as part of the
Hwy 36/Hilton Trail reconstruction project.
The work is scheduled to be completed by 7 a.m., Tuesday, June 25. There is no safe detour or alternate route we can recommend at this time.
Gateway State Trail is an 18-mile multi-use trail located between St. Paul and Washington County. The western portion of the trail runs through St. Paul, Maplewood, Pine Springs and North St Paul, passing through Phalen-Keller Regional Park.
When completed in fall 2013, the $13.8 million reconstruction project will improve safety and traffic flow on Hwy 36, Hilton Trail, Highlands Trail and Demontreville Trail while reducing the amount of through traffic cutting through residential areas.
