Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 61/170th Street roundabout construction in Hugo begins June 17

ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Motorists will encounter delays when both directions of 170th Street N. (County Road 4A) just west of Hwy 61 in Hugo close at 9 a.m., Monday, June 17.

The closure is necessary as crews begin construction of a single-lane roundabout at the Hwy 61/170th Street intersection.

In addition, Hwy 61 will be restricted to one lane while crews set up barriers and construct a temporary trail on the southbound shoulder of Hwy 61. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.

Hwy 61,170th Street N. (County Road 4) east of Hwy 61 and the Hardwood Creek Trail will remain open to traffic during this stage of construction, the first of three stages.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour of 20th Avenue to Frenchman Road/County Road 8 to Hwy 61 then back to 170th Street N.

This section of road will re-open by late June.

Project construction is expected to be complete by Aug. 31. Landscaping crews will continue to work at the project site into the fall.
