Updated: Mississippi Street closure begins May 20

Roadway will remain closed for several days

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – St. Paul area motorists and pedestrians may experience delays as Mississippi Street N. closes just south of Cayuga Street E. in the early morning on Monday, May 20.

During the closure, the following detours will be posted for motorists:

  • Northbound Mississippi Street N.: Eastbound Phalen Boulevard to northbound Cayuga Street to northbound Westminster Street to Mississippi Street/Case Ave.
  • Southbound Mississippi Street N.: Westbound Cayuga Street E. to southbound Jackson Street to eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue E./Phalen Boulevard. to Mississippi Street N.

    A posted detour will direct pedestrians to use Phalen Boulevard, Cayuga Street and Westminster Street to bypass the closure.

    The closure is needed for water main installation work as part of the I-35E Cayuga improvement project. The roadway is anticipated to remain closed for several days. Updates will be made when the roadway reopens.

    The I-35E Cayuga improvement project aims to reconstruct I-35E between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue, including replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad bridges along I-35E.
