Orange barrels on a highway

I-35E lane closures, local roadway closures begin April 24

Cayuga project continues

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — St. Paul area motorists may experience delays as lane closures on Interstate 35E and local roadways occur starting tomorrow, April 24.

The following area restrictions are currently scheduled:

  • The left lane of northbound I-35E between Phalen Boulevard and Maryland Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 24.
  • L’Orient Street will close at 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 24 between Genesse Street and Granite Street. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route around the block to avoid the work zone. The roadway will reopen by 8 p.m. April 29.
  • The right lane of both directions of I-35E between I-94 and Maryland Avenue will be closed overnight April 25 for a few hours. The southbound lane will close starting at 7 p.m. and the northbound lane will close starting at 8 p.m. Access to ramps in the area will be maintained during the lane closures.

The area restrictions are necessary as crews work on temporary lighting connections, pavement testing and utilities at part of the I-35E Cayuga improvement project, which aims to reconstruct I-35E between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue, including replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad and railroad bridges along I-35E.
