Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 52 closing April 26-27
Crossover to be constructed, opened on Lafayette Bridge

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Highway 52 motorists may experience delays as both directions of Highway 52 close between I-94 and Concord Street at 8 p.m. Friday, April 26. Crews will construct a crossover from the existing northbound Lafayette Bridge to the new northbound Lafayette Bridge. The closure was rescheduled due to weather.

Both directions of Highway 52 will re-open by 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

When the crossover is completed, all northbound vehicles or vehicle combinations of 35 feet or longer will be prohibited from crossing the Mississippi River on the Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge and must exit prior to or at Plato Boulevard.

All southbound vehicles or vehicle combinations of 35 feet or longer must follow the posted detour: eastbound
I-94 to southbound Hwy 61 to I-494.

Emergency vehicles will be permitted to use the crossover.

The temporary bypass is being built to accommodate Central Corridor Light Rail Transit’s (CCLRT) construction schedule.

Suggested alternate detour routes:

  • Northbound Hwy 52: Follow eastbound I-494 to northbound Hwy 61 to westbound I-94 to Mounds Boulevard to 7th Street.
  • Southbound Hwy 52: Follow 7th Street to Mounds Boulevard to eastbound I-94 to southbound Hwy 61 to westbound I-494.
