Public open house for Park Avenue and Portland Avenue Bridges construction project scheduled for April 17

Bridges will close and construction will begin in May

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — MnDOT, the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County are hosting an informal open house to update the public on the Park Avenue and Portland Avenue Bridges reconstruction project. The open house will be held on Wednesday, April 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 1901 Portland Avenue South in Minneapolis.

The $5 million project will begin in early May and will be completed in September. The bridges and walkways will re-open in August. The project requires simultaneously closing the bridges and adjacent walkways. Traffic, pedestrians and bicyclists will be detoured to alternate routes during construction. Partial and full closures of I-94 and I-35W are scheduled for early May as crews prepare the bridges for reconstruction.

At the open house, attendees may review the project schedule and layout, detour routes and talk with representatives from MnDOT, the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
