Environmental Assessment released for I-35E MnPASS High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes Project
Roseville, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend open houses/public hearings regarding Environmental Assessment for the proposed I-35E MnPASS High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes improvements to the I-35E Corridor in the cities of St. Paul, Maplewood and Little Canada. The proposed project will rehabilitate the existing pavement and build a new MnPASS lane in each direction between Maryland Avenue and Little Canada Road.
In addition, bridges will be replaced at the following locations: Hwy 36, County Road B, Roselawn Avenue, Larpenteur Avenue, Wheelock Parkway and Arlington Avenue. MnPASS lanes will provide a travel lane alternative and advantages for transit and carpoolers during rush hours. For a fee they also provide solo drivers with a travel alternative.
Due to the physical length of the construction project, two identical public hearings and open houses are scheduled. Interested parties may choose one that is most convenient for them to attend. The first public hearing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Hiway Federal Credit Union, 840 Westminster Street, in St. Paul. The second public hearing will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Maplewood, 380 Roselawn Ave. East. Please choose one that is most convenient for you to attend. The event will provide an opportunity for citizens to learn about the proposed project, make comments and ask questions about the I-35E MnPASS Project Environmental Assessment. Mn/DOT staff will be available to answer questions. There will be no formal presentation.
The Environmental Assessment documents state the purpose and need of the project along with the anticipated social, economic and environmental impacts. The document is available on the project Web site at http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/35estpaul/mnpass.html
