Lane and ramp closures at Hwy 169/I-494 occur overnight Sept. 6 and 7
Westbound I-494 reduced to single lane of traffic
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays as ramp and lane closures occur at the Hwy 169/Interstate 494 interchange in Bloomington, Edina and Eden Prairie overnight Thursday, Sept. 6 and Friday, Sept. 7.
The loop ramp from northbound Hwy 169 to westbound I-494 will close at 10 p.m. each night. During the closure, access from Hwy 169 to westbound I-494 will be available via Hwy 212.
In addition, one lane of westbound I-494 at the interchange will close at 7 p.m., and at 10 p.m. westbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane both days.
The loop ramp and all lanes of I-494 will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7 and by 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The closures are necessary as crews paint the new flyover bridge from westbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 169.
The Hwy 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
