Controlled burn planned for area near Marine on St. Croix
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – MnDOT in a cooperative effort with Minnesota’s DNR is planning to conduct a prescribed (controlled) burn in the Nine Springs area of William O’Brian State Park. The burn will take place at 852 Broadway Street (Washington Co Rd. 4) in Marine on St Croix this fall, after Sept. 22.
The exact date of the prescribed burn is dependent upon weather, as wind direction and speed temperature and relative humidity must be optimal in order to safely conduct and manage a prescribed burn.
Site preparation will include smaller prescribed burns to secure the perimeter of the site for a subsequent Spring 2013 burn that will be conducted between March 15 and June 22.
