Hwy 55 scheduled to reopen tomorrow, Aug. 30

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will soon be able to use Hwy 55 between Hennepin County Road 19 and Hennepin County Road 101 in Corcoran and Medina, as the roadway reopens to traffic at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 30.

The roadway has been closed since July 30 for intersections reconstruction, resurfacing, drainage work and guardrail and rumble strip installation. This was the last full closure for the project.

Final project clean-up will occur over the next week. The temporary signals along the detour routes will remain in place but will flash red. The signals will be removed after the Labor Day weekend.

The Hwy 55 design-build resurfacing project is located in Hennepin and Wright counties between Ash Street in Rockford and just west of Pinto Drive in Medina. Work includes resurfacing Hwy 55 to preserve the lifespan of the roadway and create a smoother ride for motorists, adding left turn lanes at various intersections to enhance safety, repairing curb and gutters and drainage structures, and updating accessibility for pedestrians. The project began in mid-April and is scheduled to be completed by early September.
