Stillwater Lift Bridge closing to vehicle, bike, ped traffic Sept. 10
Lift Bridge rehabilitation project continues through late December
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists in the eastern Twin Cities Metro Area and western Wisconsin will experience delays and a detour as the Stillwater Lift Bridge spanning the St. Croix River between Stillwater and Houlton, Wisc. closes on Monday, Sept. 10.
Repairs to the Lift Bridge began July 9. Much of the work on the bridge beneath the driving surface has been completed, and attention now turns to the sections above.
Rehabilitation on the historic bridge will focus on repairing steel connections, replacing and repairing mechanical and electrical components, repairing concrete surfaces, repairing floor beams, painting portions of the bridge and replacing guardrail, curb and gutter.
The lift span will open on Sundays only from Oct. 15 through Nov. 5, and not open again until late in December, toward the end of the project.
Motorists are advised to cross the St. Croix River either at the I-94 Bridge at Hudson, Wisc., or at the Hwy 243 Bridge at Osceola, Wisc.
