Hwy 8 resurfacing and intersection project switches detour route Aug. 22


ROSEVILLE, Minn.-- The second phase of the Hwy 8 resurfacing project between Grand Avenue and Hwy 95 in Center City, Franconia and Shafer is scheduled to begin Wednesday, August 22. 


During the first phase of the Hwy 8 resurfacing project, which began Wednesday, Aug. 1 and runs through Wednesday, Aug. 22, motorists are detoured along Co Rd 9, Co Rd 37 and Co Hwy 21 (Redwing Ave).


On Wednesday, Aug. 22 the newly reconstructed Hwy 8/Pleasant Valley Rd intersection will reopen to traffic and motorists will use a new detour. Traffic will move along Pleasant Valley Rd and Hwy 95 as intersection improvements, drainage work and paving takes place on Hwy 8 between Redwing Ave and Hwy 95.


The Hwy 8 resurfacing project will include intersection improvements at Pleasant Valley Road, the addition of turn lanes at Gunflint Way, Redfield Boulevard and Redwing Avenue and culvert and drainage work.


Access to Hwy 8 area residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project which is scheduled for completion in October 2012.
