Hwy 5 closes at Hwy 41 beginning July 9
Resurfacing work continues

(Roseville, Minn.)-  Motorists traveling on Hwy 5 in Victoria and Chanhassen will encounter a detour and possible delays when the road closes beginning 5 a.m. Monday, July 9.

Hwy 5 will close between the eastern junction of Steiger Lake Lane (78th Street) and Hwy 41 so crews can continue resurfacing the road and construct a pedestrian underpass near Minnewashta Parkway.  A signed detour will direct motorists to use Hwy 212, Hwy 41 and Hwy 7 to bypass the closure.  Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained for the duration of the closure.  The road is scheduled to reopen by August 30.

The work is part of a larger project to improve Hwy 5 between Victoria and Chanhassen. To sign up for the project’s email updates or for more information visit the project’s web site at

When complete the project will result in a smoother ride, reconstruct a section of Hwy 5 prone to sinking and heaving, improve pedestrian and trail facilities and improve the overall efficiency of Hwy 5.
