Hastings Bridge “Sidewalk Talk” Scheduled For July 7

Public invited to learn more about new bridge construction

(Roseville, Minn.) – The second in a series of Hastings Bridge Sidewalk Talks – or walking tours for the new bridge -- is scheduled for Saturday, July 7 at 2 p.m. at Jaycee Park in Hastings.

The talks offer a unique opportunity to hear about the process of building a 100-year lifespan bridge from those who are responsible for various aspects of construction of the new bridge

Attendees will learn about the construction process, features of the new bridge – including its innovative, free-standing arch design -- and how workers stay safe. A member of the Hwy 61 Hastings Bridge project team will lead the discussion and answer questions.

The walking tour will begin near the boat launch at Jaycee Park. It will continue along the river between where the new bridge is under construction near the Hastings business district and the location of assembly of the 545-foot Main Span near Lock and Dam #2.

Families and individuals of all ages are encouraged to attend. The tour is 30-45 minutes long.

Travelers and residents with questions are encouraged to call the Hastings Bridge Project Hotline at 651-775-5244 or visit the project’s web site at
