I-494 overnight lane closures occur July 29
Westbound I-494 reduced to single lane of traffic
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists in Edina, Bloomington and Eden Prairie will encounter lane closures in both directions of I-494 between West Bush Lake Road and Prairie Center Drive beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29.
One lane of westbound I-494 will close at 7 p.m., and at 10 p.m. westbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane.
Also at 10 p.m., there will be a double-left lane closure on eastbound I-494.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time or use alternate routes if possible, as I-494 is scheduled to still be closed to the east between Hwy 100 and I-35W for Xerxes Avenue Bridge removal during this timeframe.
All lanes of I-494 will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, July 30.
Part of the Hwy 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project, the closures are necessary as crews continue work on the new flyover bridge from westbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 169.
The Hwy 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
