Hwy 65 railroad bridge replacement project open house occurs July 24

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Anyone interested in learning about the Hwy 65 Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad bridge replacement project in Minneapolis is invited to an open house on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.

The open house will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Hennepin County Library-Northeast Branch, 2200 Central Avenue NE, Minneapolis. Proposed project information will be on display, and project staff will be on hand to answer questions and take feedback. There will be no formal presentation.

The proposed Hwy 65 Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad bridge project area is located between 14th Avenue NE and 18th Avenue NE in Minneapolis. Replacement of the current bridge (which was constructed in 1924) will provide a new structure for rail traffic and raise the vertical clearance for Hwy 65 traffic. The project will also resurface Hwy 65 in the project area to create a smoother ride for motorists, and provide new pedestrian facilities. Construction is currently anticipated to begin in the fall of 2013.
