Weekend closure of I-35W set this weekend
Hwy 10 bridges at I-35W demolished for bridge reconstruction
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Both directions of I-35W between I-694 and the north junction of Hwy 10 will close from 10 p.m. Friday, June 8 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 11 for removal of the Hwy 10/County Road 10 bridges. The closures are needed as crews demolish the Hwy 10 bridges that span I-35W and begin reconstruction of the two bridges. Crews also will replace a storm sewer culvert running beneath I-35W just north of I-694 while the roadway is closed.
The posted detour will direct motorists on I-694, Hwy 252, Hwy 610 and Hwy 10. Travel will remain available from westbound Hwy 10 to northbound I-35W and from Ramsey County Road 10 to southbound I-35W during the weekend, although the southbound interstate will be closed at I-694. (See attached map)
After the Hwy 10/County Road 10 bridges are removed, westbound Hwy 10/County Road 10 will close at I-35W through the construction season. During the closure, traffic will detour on northbound I-35W to County Road I and back south on I-35W to County Road H.
At the same time, eastbound Hwy 10 will close from I-35W to eastbound I-694 through November 2012. The detour is southbound I-35W to I-694. Westbound Hwy 10 will remain open to northbound I-35W and to local businesses and homes.
Motorists will encounter occasional lane closures and some short-term, non-rush hour, full closures for bridge work.
