Accessibility, resurfacing project begins June 11 on Snelling, Montreal Avenues

(Roseville, Minn.) – Motorists will encounter occasional delays during lane closures and shoulder closures as a resurfacing and accessibility improvements project on both Snelling Avenue and Montreal Avenue begins June 11 in St. Paul.

The Montreal Avenue segment of the project will extend between West 7th Street and Snelling Avenue. The Snelling Avenue segment will extend between Montreal Avenue and Dayton Street with the exception of the portion between Grand Avenue and St. Clair Avenue, which was completed as part of a 2010 median improvement project.

Crews will begin with accessibility improvements first, on Montreal Avenue working westward toward Snelling Avenue, before resurfacing begins on June 28. Accessibility improvements on both routes will include wider curb cuts, truncated domes and Audible Pedestrian Signals (APS). Resurfacing of the Montreal Avenue segment of the project will be completed by July 5.

Snelling Avenue improvements will begin on or about June 28, starting on the south end and working north before resurfacing begins in mid-July.

During the accessibility improvements on both segments of the project, no two intersections will be worked on at the same time. Pedestrian/bicycle detours will be marked. The project should be substantially completed by July 21.
