Northbound Lexington Avenue bridge over I-694 in Arden Hills back to two lanes early this afternoon

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The northbound Lexington Avenue bridge over Interstate 694 in Arden Hills was restored to two lanes across Interstate 694 early this afternoon.  The bridge had been restricted since early May to widen the east side of the bridge.  Also this afternoon, the bridge deck was restriped to add new dual left turn lanes on each end of the bridge.  The two turn lanes at each end of the bridge will allow for more traffic capacity for vehicles driving northbound Lexington Avenue to westbound I-694 and southbound Lexington Avenue to eastbound I-694.

The southbound lanes of the bridge, which has been restricted since Thursday, June 21, were reopened to two lanes on Friday afternoon.

Final paving of the approach roads at each end of the bridge and removal of falsework (wooden framework used to form the concrete) for the new ten-foot addition to the eastbound side of the bridge will require additional overnight closures Thursday, July 5.

The bridge project, which began in early May, added dual left turn lanes and an improved bicycle/pedestrian crossing over I-694.  Work includes upgrades to the signal system and the ramps to and from the freeway. The project will be completed by July 6.
