Southbound Lexington Avenue bridge open to two lanes for Friday afternoon commute

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The southbound Lexington Avenue Bridge over I-694 in Arden Hills was restored to two lanes of traffic around 2:30 p.m. today, in time for the afternoon commute. And the northbound bridge will be back to two lanes by Saturday afternoon, weather permitting. The bridge had been restricted to a single lane for eight days to finish grading along southbound Lexington Avenue and replace bridge expansion joints and paint the rail on the west side of the bridge.

Final paving of the approach roads at each end of the bridge and removal of falsework (wooden framework used to form the concrete) for the new ten-foot addition to the eastbound side of the bridge will require additional overnight closures Thursday, July 5.

The bridge project, which began in early May, will add dual left turn lanes and an improved bicycle/pedestrian crossing over I-694.  Work included upgrades to the signal system and improving the ramps to and from the freeway. The project will be completed by late next week.
