Southbound Lexington Avenue bridge reopens to two lanes mid-morning June 29
Northbound lanes reopen Saturday afternoon

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The southbound Lexington Avenue bridge will be back to two lanes across I- 694 Friday morning, June 29.  The bridge had been restricted to a single lane for eight days to finish grading along southbound Lexington Avenue and replace bridge expansion joints and paint the rail on the west side of the bridge.

Although traffic had been restored on the southbound side of the bridge, the northbound bridge remains a single lane at the interstate until Saturday afternoon.

Final paving of the approach roads at each end of the bridge and removal of falsework (wooden framework used to form the concrete) for the new ten-foot addition to the eastbound side of the bridge will require additional overnight closures Thursday, July 5.

The bridge project, which began in early May, will add dual left turn lanes and an improved bicycle/pedestrian crossing over I-694.  Work includes upgrades to the signal system and the ramps to and from the freeway. The project will be completed by mid-July.  Access to the pedestrian/bicycle lane will be maintained during construction.
