Stillwater Lift Bridge rehabilitation project begins July 9
ROSEVILLE, Minn.--The Highway 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin Monday, July 9.
Most of the initial work will be done on the water below the bridge deck prior to a full closure of the bridge beginning Sept. 10. The full closure will remain in place through early December.
The $3.4 million project will include the repair of the historic bridge’s steel, concrete, electrical and mechanical components. The project will also include guardrail, curb and gutter replacement and painting at repair locations.
The Stillwater Lift Bridge rehabilitation project is needed to maintain a safe crossing and to preserve the bridge until it can be converted to a bike and pedestrian facility in 2017.
The project will be completed by mid-December.
