Hwy 65/40th Avenue NE intersection work begins June 25
Hwy 65 construction continues between Minneapolis and Fridley

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays and detours at Hwy 65/Central Avenue and 40th Avenue NE in Columbia Heights as concrete work at the intersection begins Monday, June 25.

Access to, or across, Hwy 65 at 40th Avenue NE will close early June 25. Motorists will be detoured to Reservoir Boulevard, 37th Avenue NE, Madison Place NE and Huset Parkway NE to bypass the closure.

Hwy 65 will also be reduced to a single lane in each direction throughout the work. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to expect delays in the area and allow for extra time or use alternate routes if possible.

The intersection restrictions are expected to be in place for approximately two weeks as crews complete concrete rehabilitation work as part of the overall Hwy 65 resurfacing project.

The Hwy 65 resurfacing project is located in Hennepin and Anoka counties between Washington Avenue in Minneapolis and 53rd Avenue NE in Fridley. Work includes resurfacing Hwy 65 to preserve the lifespan of the roadway and create a smoother ride for motorists, repairing and replacing drainage structures, and updating accessibility for pedestrians. Bicycle facilities were also coordinated with the city of Minneapolis and are included in some locations through the city. The project is scheduled to be completed by late August.
