Southbound I-35E reopens to two lanes
I-35E north metro resurfacing project virtually complete

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Southbound I-35E motorists will once again experience two open lanes in the northern metro area between County Road 96 and the I-35/35E/35W confluence as both lanes reopened this evening.

Non-rush hour lane closures will take place through June 8 as crews reinstall cable median barriers.

Short-term final resurfacing of the north and south ends of the project will take place starting June 4. Motorists may expect non-rush hour lane closures through June 8. Resurfacing of the south end of the project will begin June 18, also with lane closures at night for about three or four nights.

The goals of this project were to reconstruct I-35E between Columbus and White Bear Lake. It included extending the life of the pavement by removing the existing blacktop and replacing it with a new concrete overlay and improving ride quality. The project also replaced the box culvert carrying Clearwater Creek beneath I-35E.
