Hwy 62 resurfacing project begins June 8
Two full closures will occur in Edina

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays on Hwy 62 between Penn Avenue and Tracy Avenue in Edina as a project to resurface the roadway and make pedestrian accessibility upgrades begins Friday, June 8.

Crews will begin working on pedestrian accessibility upgrades at the France Avenue, Xerxes Avenue, Penn Avenue and Valley View Road interchanges. Daytime, non-rush hour lane closures on these local roads will occur during the work. After accessibility upgrades have been completed, the ramps at the interchanges will be resurfaced during overnight ramp closures.

On Hwy 62, overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. are anticipated throughout the project as needed. During the weekend of June 8-11, westbound Hwy 62 will be reduced to a single lane from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for shoulder widening at Penn Avenue.

Additonally, one weekend closure will occur for resurfacing in each direction. The closures are currently anticipated to occur in late June and mid-July. Updates will be made in advance of each closure.

The Hwy 62 Better Roads project will resurface the roadway and ramps to create a smoother roadway and extend the lifespan of the pavement. The project will also upgrade accessibility for pedestrians and revise traffic signals at four interchanges. The entire project is expected to be completed by early August.
