Hwy 5 closures in Victoria begin May 30
(Roseville, Minn.) – Motorists travelling Hwy 5 in Victoria will encounter a detour, flaggers and possible delays near Steiger Lake as one section of Hwy 5 is closed and another section is reduced to a single lane Wednesday, May 30.
Both directions of Hwy 5 between the east junction and the west junction of Steiger Lake Lane will be closed at 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 and reopen by Aug. 30. Steiger Lake Lane itself will remain open, and motorists can access local businesses using Steiger Lake Lane and County Road 11.
Also beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, the segment of Hwy 5 between Auburn Drive and the west junction of Steiger Lake Lane will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers controlling traffic. All lanes of this segment of Hwy 5 between Auburn Drive and Steiger Lake Lane will reopen by June 15.
All local businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the project.
The closures are needed as crews replace drainage pipes beneath the roadway and construct a right turn lane from County Road 11 to westbound Hwy 5.
The work is part of a larger project to improve Hwy 5 between Victoria and Chanhassen. When complete, the project will result in a smoother ride along four miles of busy highway, improve bike and pedestrian facilities, increase safety and efficiency by adding turn lanes at busy intersections and improve drainage in the area.
