Interstate 494 overnight lane closures begin May 21
Traffic reduced to single-lane
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists in Edina and Bloomington will encounter nightly lane closures on Interstate 494 between West Bush Lake Road and Prairie Center drive beginning at 7 p.m., Monday, May 21.
Then, beginning at 10 p.m. daily, the following directions of I-494 will be reduced to a single lane between West Bush Lake Road and Prairie Center Drive:
- Eastbound on Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22
- Westbound on Wednesday, May 23 and Thursday, May 24
All lanes of I-494 will reopen by 5 a.m. each day following the overnight lane closures.
Part of the Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project, the closures are necessary as crews perform work on the new flyover bridge from westbound I-494 to southbound Highway 169.
The Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
