Reminder: Major weekend closures scheduled for Twin Cities Metro
Motorists advised to check 511 and MnDOT’s Full Closures page before traveling


ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Twin Cities Metro motorists will experience delays and detours beginning Friday, May 18 as major closures occur in St. Paul and Minneapolis.


St. Paul
In St. Paul, both directions of Interstate 35E between 10th Street/Wacouta Avenue and 11th Street, as well as both directions of Interstate 94 between 5th Street/10th Street and the ramp to 12th Street, will close for Central Corridor Light Rail Transit (CCLRT) construction.


Eastbound I-94 and northbound I-35E will close at 10 p.m. Friday, May 18. Westbound I-94 and southbound I-35E will close at 8 p.m. Friday, May 18. In addition, the ramp from northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-94 will close at 9 p.m. Friday, May 18.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detours.



Motorists should be aware that various ramps leading up to the closed roadways will also close (check MnDOT’s Full Closures page for more information). The ramp from southbound I-35E to eastbound I-94 and southbound Hwy 52 will remain open, as will the ramp from eastbound I-94 to southbound I-35E via Kellogg Boulevard.


In Minneapolis, westbound I-94 between Highway 280 and I-394 will close at 8 p.m. Friday, May 18 for resurfacing as part of the I-94 improvement project.


Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route: northbound Highway 280 to northbound I-35W to westbound I-694 to westbound I-94. Motorists on I-35W trying to access westbound I-94 are advised to follow posted detours to westbound Highway 62, northbound Highway 100 and eastbound I-394 to westbound I-94.


Additionally in downtown Minneapolis, the ramp from 3rd Street to westbound I-94 near Target Field will close at 10 p.m. Friday, May 18 as part of the ramp’s bus shoulder rehabilitation project. During the closure motorists are advised to use Washington Avenue to access the Broadway Avenue interchange and then westbound I-94.
