3rd Street ramp project in Minneapolis begins May 14
Full closure of ramp scheduled for May 18-21
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Downtown Minneapolis motorists will experience delays as a project to rehabilitate the shoulder of the ramp from 3rd Street to westbound Interstate 94 begins Monday, May 14.
During the first week of work (May 14-18), the following restrictions will occur:
- Monday, May 14: Lane closure on the ramp from 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. (lane will reopen before the end of the ball game)
- Tuesday, May 15: Lane closure on the ramp from 7 .m. until 2 p.m. (lane will reopen before the end of the ball game)
- Wednesday, May 16: Lane closure on the ramp will begin by 7 a.m. and remain in place until 10 p.m. Friday, May 18
During the lane closures access to westbound I-94 will still be available, but motorists should expect delays and take alternate routes if possible.
A full closure of the ramp is schedule for the weekend of May 18-21. The ramp will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. During the closure a posted detour will direct motorists to use Washington Avenue and then Broadway Avenue to access westbound I-94. Ramp access to westbound I-394 will remain available.
The last stage of the project will include a five-day lane closure on westbound I-94. Updates will be made in advance of the restrictions.
The project will rehabilitate the shoulder on the ramp, allowing for continued transit availability and providing a smoother ride.
