Hwy 65/Central Avenue construction begins April 30
Construction will occur between Minneapolis and Fridley

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays on Hwy 65/Central Avenue between Washington Avenue in Minneapolis and 53rd Avenue NE in Fridley as a project to resurface the roadway and make additional improvements begins Monday, April 30.

Work will begin on the north end of the project. Lane closures will occur throughout the project during non-rush hours, as well as a few weekend closures of Hwy 65 for work on drainage structures beneath the roadway. Currently daytime work is anticipated, but some overnight work may also occur as needed.

The Hwy 65 resurfacing project is located in Hennepin and Anoka counties between Washington Avenue in Minneapolis and 53rd Avenue NE in Fridley. Work includes resurfacing Hwy 65 to preserve the lifespan of the roadway and create a smoother ride for motorists, repairing and replacing drainage structures, and updating accessibility for pedestrians. Bicycle facilities were also coordinated with the city of Minneapolis and are included in some locations through the city. The project is scheduled to be completed by late August.
