Hwy 8 reconstruction project begins April 16
Project to move through Lindstrom and Center City

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Road construction is set to begin on Hwy 8 Lindstrom between Shoquist Lane and Irene Ave. Monday, April 16.

Construction crews will separate eastbound and westbound Hwy 8 into a “one-way Pair” in downtown Lindstrom between Linden and Elm Streets. Hwy 8 (Lake Boulevard) will carry eastbound traffic, and 1st Ave. will carry westbound traffic when completed.

Other features of the project include building a new bridge spanning the channel connecting North Lindstrom and South Lindstrom Lakes, installing new traffic signals along Hwy 8 at County Road 14 (Lincoln Road), County Road 20 (North Lakes Trail), County Road 25 (Olinda Trail) and Akerson Street.

Frontage roads planned in some areas will improve safety by removing direct driveway access to Hwy 8, and trails and sidewalks will be constructed on both sides of Hwy 8 between County Roads 14 and Akerson Street. A portion of the Swedish Immigrant Trail from County Road 14 to Dew Drop Lane in Center City also lies within the project area.

Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the project.

When complete, the project will address capacity, mobility and safety issues in the area. The construction project will be completed in June 2013.
