ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will encounter delays and a detour on both directions of Highway 169 in Bloomington and Edina when the roadway closes at Interstate 494 at 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.
The loop ramps from Highway 169 to I-494 will also close at this time. During the weekend, posted detours will direct motorists to bypass the closure via Highway 212, Highway 62 and Hwy 100.
Access to Eden Prairie Center, local businesses and neighborhoods adjacent to the Highway 169/I-494 interchange will remain open and available during the closure.
Highway 212 and surface roadways that service neighborhoods and other businesses that feed them to the south of I-494 will remain unaffected.
Highway 169 and all ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20.
Part of the Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project, the closure is necessary as crews place beams that span the roadway for the new flyover bridge from westbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 169.
The Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
