New flyover ramp at Hwy 169/I-494 to open tonight
Hwy 169 traffic signal to be deactivated
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will experience a traffic change at the Highway 169/Interstate 494 interchange in Bloomington, Edina and Eden Prairie as the new flyover ramp from westbound Interstate 494 to northbound Highway 169 opens late Oct. 9, weather permitting.
As soon as the ramp opens, the traffic signal on northbound Highway 169 at I-494 will be deactivated. Motorists also should watch for overnight lane closures near the interchange as crews prepare to open the ramp.
Also on Oct. 9, reconstruction will begin on the loop ramp from northbound Highway 169 to westbound I-494. The ramp will remain open at this time, but is expected to close later in October.
The Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
