Watch for nighttime I-494 lane and ramp closures Oct. 24-26
Eastbound I-494 full closure to take place 10 p.m. Oct. 26 through 5 p.m. Oct. 28
(Roseville, Minn.) – Motorists may encounter delays and a detour as overnight paving on eastbound I-494 begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 24.
Crew will begin paving the auxiliary lane eastbound I-494 from Hwy 77 to 24th Avenue.
In addition, the ramps from eastbound I-494 to northbound Hwy 77 and to 24th Ave and from southbound and northbound 24th Ave to eastbound I-494 are expected to close at 9 p.m.
Crews expect to have the auxiliary lane and ramp open each day by 5 a.m. Oct. 25 to Oct 26.
Make sure to follow the signed detours to bypass the ramp closures.
A weekend full closure of eastbound 494 between Hwy 77 and 24th Ave is scheduled for 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 through 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 as crews repave the roadway.
This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in case of inclement weather.
This work is part of the larger I-494 improvement project. For information regarding other current ramp closures in the project area, visit the project website at http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/i494richfield.
The I-494 improvement project will raise the vertical clearance and update pedestrian accessibilities on the Xerxes Avenue Bridge, provide a smoother driving service and extend the lifespan of I-494, improve traffic flow due to added auxiliary lanes, and reduce maintenance needs by replacing guardrail with concrete barrier in the median. The entire project is expected to be completed by September 2013.
