Both directions of I-35E open to two lanes by 3 p.m. today in northern Twin Cities Metro area
Traffic restrictions lifted at Anoka County Road 14

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – I-35E traffic will be restored to two lanes in each direction between Ramsey County Road 96 and the northern junction of I-35E and I-35W in Columbus by 3 p.m. today. Northbound I-35E was reopened by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 and crews are currently moving barricade to fully open the southbound lanes by 3 p.m.

Although traffic had been restored on each side of the roadway in late September, both northbound and southbound traffic was a single lane at Anoka County Rd. 14 in Lino Lakes through mid-October as crews completed the installation of a new culvert to carry Clearwater Creek beneath the roadway at that location.

Crews began major reconstruction of I-35E between the northern I-35 junction and White Bear Lake this past May. Crews will return next spring to resurface northbound I-35E in the same area.

This project will provide long-term repairs to the existing roadway. The existing pavement is being removed from the concrete below and replaced with a 10-inch concrete overlay, which will provide durability and a smoother ride.
