Traffic changes ahead for I-694/Hwy 10 interchange construction
Long-awaited project began Monday, Sept. 19
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As construction activity ramps up, motorists will encounter a traffic on the I-694/Hwy 10 interchange, which also encompasses Snelling Avenue and Hamline Avenue.
Southbound Hamline Avenue will close between County Road F and I-694 Sunday evening Oct. 2 until Spring 2013. In addition, the ramp from southbound Hamline Avenue to eastbound I-694 will close permanently. During this closure, motorists will detour either westbound on County Road 96 to eastbound Hwy 10 or westbound County Road 96 to southbound I-35W to eastbound I-694.
Occasional I-694 nighttime lane closures will continue throughout the fall as crews build bypasses to carry traffic during construction.
Major reconstruction at the interchange of Interstate 694 and Hwy 10 at Snelling Avenue and Hamline Avenue in Arden Hills began on Monday, Sept. 19. The two-year project includes reconstruction of the surrounding roadways between I-35W and Victoria Street along with the Island Lake bridges east of the interchange between Lexington Avenue and Victoria Street.
In addition to rebuilding the surround highways, the project will rebuild bridges in the corridor and will improve safety and mobility.
