Southbound I-35E weekend closure begins Sept. 23

 

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter delays in St. Paul and Mendota Heights this weekend as southbound Interstate 35E closes between I-94 and I-494 at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept.  23.

 

Heading into the weekend closure, I-35E between Hwy 5/West Seventh Street and Hwy 13 will be reduced to a single lane beginning at 7 p.m.

 

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, southbound I-35E will reduce to a single lane between I-94 and I-494. At 9 p.m., the ramps to southbound I-35E will close.

 

A detour will direct motorists to southbound Highway 52 and I-494. Motorists are advised to plan additional travel time and use alternate routes when possible during the closures.

 

All lanes and ramps will open by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, and all work is weather dependent.

 

The closures are part of the I-35E resurfacing project between Highway 5/West Seventh Street in St. Paul and Lone Oak Road in Eagan. When complete, the project will result in a smoother ride, extended pavement life, improved drainage and improved pedestrian crossings that meet accessibility standards.
