Southbound I-35E ramps open at County Road 96 and
County Road 14, County Road J ramps close
Paving continues on southbound I-35E
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As paving wrapped up on southbound Interstate 35E at Ramsey County Road 96 in White Bear Lake, the ramps between southbound I-35E and Ramsey County Road 96 in White Bear Lake opened early this morning.
At the same time, the ramp from Ramsey County Road J to southbound I-35E closed so construction crews can pave a portion of southbound Interstate 35E in Lino Lakes. The ramp will remain closed until Monday, Sept. 19.
The ramp from the southbound interstate to Anoka County Road 14 also was closed Monday, Sept. 12 and will reopen by Thursday, Sept. 15.
During the closures, traffic should follow a signed detour to reach southbound I-35E or Anoka County Road 14. The ramps between the northbound interstate and County Road 96 will remain open.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes if possible to avoid congestion and delays during the work.
Traffic is currently a single lane in each direction on the northbound lanes of I-35E between Ramsey County Road 96 and the I-35E/I-35W split in Columbus, just south of Forest Lake, as crews resurface the southbound interstate. Work on the southbound interstate will be completed in mid-October. Crews will return next spring to resurface the northbound roadway in the same area.
This project aims to provide a long-term solution to the existing roadway. The existing pavement will be removed from the concrete below and replaced with a 10-inch concrete overlay, which will provide durability and a smoother ride.
