I-35E closures begin Aug. 18
Project between Eagan and St. Paul will provide smoother ride
ROSEVILLE, Minn – Motorists traveling I-35E between Eagan and St. Paul will encounter delays beginning Thursday, August 18 as crews begin to resurface the interstate and make other improvements between Lone Oak Road and Hwy 5/West Seventh Street.
The work will require lane, ramp and road closures throughout the project, including two full weekend closures of the northbound lanes, two full weekend closures of the southbound lanes and intermittent non-rush hour lane closures throughout the life of the project. Some lane closures may extend into peak traffic hours if needed to allow concrete to cure. Specific full closure dates will provided as details become available.
The first lane closures will occur during non-rush hours on both directions of I-35E south of I-494 and north of Lone Oak Road.
When the initial work south of I-494 is complete, crews will begin resurfacing north of I-494.
Two ramps also are currently scheduled to close. The ramps from southbound I-35E to westbound Hwy 110, and from westbound Hwy 110 to northbound I-35E will close for seven days beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22. Motorists are asked to follow the posted ramp detours.
All lanes of I-35E will be open by Nov. 1.
When complete, the project will result in a smoother ride, extended pavement life, improved drainage and improved pedestrian crossings that meet ADA standards.
